Here is the story
So last Saturday afternoon I started having contractions. Since I had been having Braxton Hicks for so long, I wasn't too sure this was the real thing, but they did hurt a little more and seemed to be more consistent. Erin was in KY with Aunt Korie and Uncle Ben, so Andrew and I had been enjoying the weekend and were getting ready to head to Target and get some dinner. Now I'm thankful that we had a huge lunch at Macaroni Grill that day! I had to force Andrew to go to Target since he was ready to head to the hospital already. We went ahead and packed the last of our bags (I guess deep down I knew this was it), picked up some last minute things and a few groceries at Target, ate a little at Cracker Barrell, went home and started to watch a movie, called the dr, had an emotional break down realizing this was it, headed to the hospital and got 30 minutes down the road before realizing I forgot my toiletry bag in the bathroom, drove back home, made it to the hospital around 10:30 when my contractions were 2 minutes apart!!! We were already tired and yawning and upset that she decided to come in the middle of the night like Erin did instead of during the day after a good nights sleep! I was in the triage for 4 hours waiting for an operating room- they were bombarded with women in labor that night and I was the 7th c-section by the time I made it. I had gone in with hopes of having a vaginal delivery but after about an hour of being there, Mady's hear rate dropped to a dangerous level. I was hooked up to an Iv very quickly and thrown all over the table while they tried to get her back to normal. It was down for 4 minutes and it was a horrible moment. After that I just wanted her out and so I laid on my right side with an oxygen mask for the next 3 hours. So, at 3:54 am she finally came into the world and everyone oohed and ahead over her head of dark hair. She went with Daddy to the nursery and I was taken to recovery. I actually didn't even see her until 8:30 am which was horrible- they were watching her closely for a while since she was early and was breathing a little quickly. She was fine after that and we had a normal next 3 days in the hospital.
It has been a week now and we are all great. I feel so blessed and happy with my family. Erin has been great and just keeps saying "aww she is so cute." She loves to see her awake and see her eyes and will just talk to her. I know she missed having us home and being in her routine and seems to be great now. Now mommy needs to get over worrying that she shows enough attention to her! Andrew has been incredible too. He has been cleaning non stop and playing with Erin a ton. I have really been able to rest and heal and am feeling pretty normal- just a little sore and taking it easy. Mady is a sleepy head and I have to wake her during the day to eat! The last few nights she has been awake for over an hour at a time and has wanted to eat more, but that's to be expected. I'm pretty tired but this time seems to be easier now that I know what to expect and have done it once before. You just deal with it! Andrew went back to work today however, so now the real world begins- until Grandma Jenny comes Wed!
